The Shocker Hitch Air Equalizer™ with Weight Distribution and Dual Friction Sway Control is a complete towing kit that combines air ride cushioning, load levelling, and sway management into a single bolt-on system for pickup trucks. It carries a 12,000 lb towing capacity and 1,200 lb tongue weight rating, and air pressure can be adjusted up or down to suit different trailer weights ranging from 6,000 to 11,500 lbs GTW.
At its core, the Air Equalizer uses a built-in air spring bag paired with four bump cushions and a rocker arm pivot design that produces a front-to-back motion to absorb road shock. This design eliminates the need for parallel linkages, shocks, and torsion arms while still allowing the weight distribution hitch to function as intended. The dual friction sway control arms — one per side — stiffen the connection between truck and trailer to resist sway from wind, passing vehicles, and rough road surfaces.
The kit includes the Air Equalizer, XR Ball Mount base frame with two-handled hitch pins and clips, a round bar weight distribution hitch with sway bar tabs, and two friction sway control arm assemblies with mini ball kits. The XR base frame is available for 2″, 2-1/2″, and 3″ receiver tubes. The kit comes with a 2-5/16″ hitch ball; a 2″ ball is not included and must be sourced separately if required.
This kit is designed for pickup trucks with leaf springs only — it is not compatible with SUVs or CUVs with coilover rear springs. Not compatible with weight-distribution hitch systems used independently of this kit’s included WD head. Towing capacity is limited by the lowest-rated component.
